Looking Back on our First RV Trip

Has it really been eight years since we bought our RV and took off on our first adventure across our beautiful country?

We purchased our Titanium fifth wheel on June 29, 2006 and spent a couple of nights in the dealer’s lot to get familiar with our new home on wheels. After returning home to Georgia it took about two weeks to pack and get ready for our maiden voyage. With no reservations and no set itinerary we set out on our two month adventure across America and into the Canadian Rockies.

Here are a few highlights of that first amazing journey:

We were hooked!  We knew this was the first of many amazing trips to come.

Beth…I know you and I have “talked” briefly via email about a couple of your adventures as you traveled our wonderful country and I am glad that you have started blogging again with some of the picts of your past experiences. Barb and I enjoy your posts; and we want to get to Baniff and Jasper sometime in the near future and we are still hashing over if we want to try Alaska…. Keep em coming, girl.. we enjoy them

  3. Laurel, we were a lot younger then and drove longer distances each day. We spent a week in Yellowstone, a week in Jasper and several days in Moab and we still didn’t see everything!

    1. Yes, a much skinnier Blondie was with us on our first trip. She was just a little over a year old and we discovered she loves to travel as much as us. We couldn’t take her on any of the hikes in the National Parks but she had plenty of places outside the parks to have fun.

      We have a short fall trip planned and a longer one next spring. We’re enjoying our summer but are starting to get the urge to start wandering again.

  7. Wow, you sure managed to take in some of the top must see places that first year…. impressive. This RVing thing is definitely addictive. Keep those posts coming. By sharing, it helps the rest of us decided where to go 🙂

I actually have a list of “must see” places and campgrounds based on some of the blog posts I have read. I love when I read a post that brings back fond memories about a place we have visited, too.

  8. Just amazing! That must feel so liberating, just being able to go wherever your whim takes you! You covered some beautiful country! Is the middle pic in your header coming over White Pass into Skagway? My sister and her family live there, it looked a bit familiar!

    1. Thank you! You are right! The picture in the header was taken on the way to Skagway, our first stop in Alaska last summer. And yes, we do love the freedom that traveling by RV gives us. We have enjoyed our adventures across the U.S. and Canada and are counting the days until we depart for our next journey.
