Bird Weekly Challenge #35: Birds I love

I’m not a birder and don’t have a life list but I love all birds and I love to watch them doing what birds do. It’s always interesting to see a bird or a pair of birds on their nest or building their nest. It’s even more fun if there are chicks!

  1. I’m with you … I’m not a birder, but rather someone who enjoys observing and photographing. Love that last image of the egret chicks. I was telling my husband that I’d like to revisit TX when the chicks have hatched, and then he reminded me of spring tornados 😏

  2. Me too. 🙂 I always have a bird book, binoculars and a camera handy but I have far too many other interests to be a serious birder. Still, we have a couple of bird houses outside for smaller birds and it has been great fun watching chickadees and swallows raising their families. I like the look on the face of the wood stork, Beth. It’s like he is saying, “What, you laid an egg? When were you going to tell me?” 🙂 –Curt

  4. Love these birds! Birds on the nest are one of my favorite things to see too. Have you ever come down to the Alligator Farm in St. Augustine? In March/April, so many birds come into the rookery to nest and have their chicks. I wouldn’t want to go right now because of covid, but one of these years, we are going to go back again. It is a bird photographer’s heaven! 🙂

    1. Lisa, thanks! We went to the alligator farm 2 years ago in Mid February when many birds were sporting their breeding plumage. Loved it! The egret an wood stork nests are from Harris Neck National Wildlife Refuge in Townsend a few miles off of I-95 between Savannsh and Brunswick. In March the trees are full of nesting birds.

  5. Whenever you show a half a dozen or so of your photos, I am always engaged. There is, however, usually one that tends to cause my pulse to quicken. In this post, it is the eagle shot. WOW! That could be included in a ‘how to’ book for amateur photographers like myself. You did good, lady. 🙂

  7. I just realized you pingback to the “D” birds. Just thought I would let you know. I added it to the round up but I had to go find it. LOL! 🙂 I’ve done this before too! More times than I care to talk about…hehehe!
