Amy’s challenge is to explore differences between locations in the East and West or North and South using culture, architecture, plants, or landscape. I’m going to take a look at the differences between North Georgia and South Georgia landscapes. The opening image is springtime in Bonaventure Cemetery in Savannah.
North Georgia
North Georgia has mountains, waterfalls, Tallulah Gorge, and the highest point in Georgia.

South Georgia
South Georgia is flat and has the Okefenokee Swamp National Wildlife Refuge, barrier islands, beaches, salt marsh, farmland, pecan groves, and historic Savannah.

Many thanks to Amy for her challenge Lens-Artists Challenge #236 – East Meets West or North meets South
Oh, your first image with all the moss hanging off the branches is gorgeous! The rest of the images show the contrasts between the two sides wonderfully well.

Once again Beth I am amazed at the similarities between your world and mine. I thought perhaps you’d visited our Magnolia Gardens before I read your text with the first image. The same is true for the marsh shot at the end – also gorgeous! A marvelous post – I suppose I shall have to head to northern SC one of these days to be able to compare against your beautiful mountains!

Thanks Tina. I love Savannah in the spring when the dogwoods and azaleas are blooming. Bonaventure Cemetery is beautiful then. One year we spent a few days in South Carolina’s Upcountry in Mountain Rest. One day we took a drive from there that took us into North Carolina and Georgia. It’s a pretty area.

The first image is a winner, and the difference from north to south in your beautiful state is rather amazing. You are surrounded by natural beauty wherever you are at home, and that’s a really good thing.

Thanks Judy! Many people think of Atlanta when they think of Georgia. There is so much to see outside of the city.

Quite a diversity in your landscape, Beth. The salt marsh, the falls, the driftwood on the beach and the Cemetery. Wow what a beautiful place to be laid to rest. A beautiful collection, a beautiful state.
