“The sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever.”

A beach with perfect sugar white sand only a five minute walk from our campsite. I think I am in heaven!

Our home for a week is Ft. Pickens Campground in Gulf Islands National Seashore on Santa Rosa Island. I’ve been doing a lot of walking on the beach and beach chair sitting.

We’ve taken a couple of hikes on the half-mile Blackbird Marsh Nature Trail near the campground.

It is nest building time for Ospreys and several nests can be seen in the area. Ospreys are frequently seen soaring over the campground and a few of the nests can be viewed close up from the nature trail.

And the sunsets over the Gulf of Mexico are breathtaking!

More of the Fort Pickens area coming up in my next post.
We’ve never made it here. Looks like a must see and stay! Hopefully next winter. Beautiful pictures!

Judy, thank you. I’m a beach person and I have to say this is the prettiest I’ve ever seen. The water is crystal clear and the beach is not crowded. I don’t want to leave!

That’s awesome. I loved it when we were there in previous years. I couldn’t talk my husband into going there this year or we’d be there right now. Enjoy.

Love it there! Would be there now but couldn’t get a rez so we went on over to Destin. Peg Leg Petes is one of our favorite restaurants.

The campground has been full the whole time we’ve been here. You are the third person to recommend Peg Leg Pete’s. We are headed there for lunch tomorrow.

What a gorgeous stretch of beach. Are dogs allowed on it?

Not in the National Seashore but just outside the entrance is a dog beach. Blondie wore herself out swimming one day.

I just loved our stay there, even when the road got shut down. We were there a few weeks ago to yak with the camphosts. Big changes there and many not happy…darn, I would have liked a gig there. Saturday morning market on Palafox St in Pensacola the best!!!!! We hope to still get there and check out museums, etc. Wish Pensacola had more RV parks!
