We’ve had lots of activity in our backyard these first two weeks of July. Bees and Butterflies are frequent visitors to the butterfly garden.
Ruby Throated Hummingbirds and Northern Cardinals are two of the birds we see every summer around our back yard. Snow Egrets are frequent summer visitors to the salt water creek. Roseate Spoonbills first started coming to our area a few years ago. I’ve seen them two years in a row now so hopefully they will keep returning each summer.

With us, bees and butterflies have become rare. 😦

Pit, so sorry to hear that.

We keep trying to have flowers/blossoms for them though.

I hope the flowers will attract them for you.

Okay, now you’re showing off. 🙂 Seriously, those are amazing visitors and even more fantastic photos. You had my undivided attention with the first photo, but then I just chuckled right out loud at the Mexican Sunflower shot. I would need that in a frame where I could look at it every single day of the summer. Pat yourself on the back for these shots. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Thanks Judy. The wind and rain from Elsa knocked down a couple of the Mexican sunflowers but there are plenty left.

Beautiful shots! It always makes me happy to see bees and butterflies are the icing on the cake. But then those spoonbills would make me do the happy dance! Nice pictures!

Thanks Nancy! The Spoonbills always make me happy. They don’t stay around very long so it is a real treat whenever I see them.

You’re lucky. We keep trying to attract birds, especially hummingbirds, but so far it’s tough going. May try a new feeder and seed.

It’s taken a few years to get the right mix of flowers and food. I read somewhere that the hummingbirds will come back to the same feeders. I have three – two from Birds Unlimited and one from Ace Hardware. The hummers still fight over a feeder!

You always delight with your wonderful photos. I would frame the “orange flower with butterfly”, it is perfect.
