Backyard Bees, Butterflies and Birds

We’ve had lots of activity in our backyard these first two weeks of July. Bees and Butterflies are frequent visitors to the butterfly garden.

Ruby Throated Hummingbirds and Northern Cardinals are two of the birds we see every summer around our back yard. Snow Egrets are frequent summer visitors to the salt water creek. Roseate Spoonbills first started coming to our area a few years ago. I’ve seen them two years in a row now so hopefully they will keep returning each summer.

  1. Okay, now you’re showing off. 🙂 Seriously, those are amazing visitors and even more fantastic photos. You had my undivided attention with the first photo, but then I just chuckled right out loud at the Mexican Sunflower shot. I would need that in a frame where I could look at it every single day of the summer. Pat yourself on the back for these shots. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

  2. Beautiful shots! It always makes me happy to see bees and butterflies are the icing on the cake. But then those spoonbills would make me do the happy dance! Nice pictures!

    1. It’s taken a few years to get the right mix of flowers and food. I read somewhere that the hummingbirds will come back to the same feeders. I have three – two from Birds Unlimited and one from Ace Hardware. The hummers still fight over a feeder!
