This week it’s my pleasure to host the Lens-Artists Challenge. I am challenging you to feature anything with wings. To give you a few ideas I am featuring some of my favorite things with wings.
Bird Wings

Butterflies and other insects

Angels

Military Aircraft
My final examples are of military aircraft. My father was a pilot in the Army Air Corps in World War II and later flew several other types of planes including the B52. The first three planes in this gallery were taken at recent air shows I attended. The images of the B24 and B52 are from my father’s photos.

When you think of wings do you think of birds, insects, angels and airplanes? Maybe you think of art work featuring fantasy beings like dragons and fairies. Whatever you think of I hope you will join in for this week’s challenge. I can’t wait to see what you come up with. Be sure to tag your post with Lens-Artists and include a link back to this post.
Last week you showed us some creative mysterious images in your responses to Patti’s challenge Mysterious.
Be sure to check back on Saturday, December 6 at noon eastern time when Ann-Christine will be hosting the challenge.

Love the examples you’ve chosen to depict ‘wings’. I’m sure most nature photographers would certainly have plenty. But your angels are something I never would have thought of.

Such a terrific idea for a challenge Beth. I’m with Rebecca, the angels were totally unexpected and delightful! Of course I loved your birds which we definitely share across our state boundaries 😊. My response is here and as you’ll see we have some shared subjects! https://travelsandtrifles.wordpress.com/2025/11/29/lens-artists-challenge-376-wings/

I love your bird photos, particularly those with pairs, and likewise the pair of sulphur butterflies is especially lovely! I liked the inclusion of carved angels too (I confess I’m less interested in military aircraft however). But I’ve stuck with birds and insects for my contribution: https://www.toonsarah-travels.blog/gallery-wings-of-many-kinds/

It is funny that my first thought was bird wings but not the angels. Why did I think it was funny…I have a beautiful angel right next to our front door that I pass by daily.

Great examples, Beth. Most of mine are birds and insects, but I have some with gargoyles. Grin. Peggy’s dad was in the Army Air Corps as well during WW II and flew over the hump across the Himalayas into China.

Thanks Curt. Why didn’t I think of gargoyles? The men of the army Air Corps were true heroes in WWII.

And to think I almost missed this one (too much adulting)! A wonderful prompt. I decided to concentrate on one pair of wings: https://picturesimperfectblog.com/2025/12/03/wings-earth-wind-and-fire/
but I love your variety. Those dancing egrets look amazing. What a treat to witness something like that (and capture it so well, as you did).

I love this challenge – something for everyone! Today on my walk at the beach there was a Bald Eagle finishing it’s lunch on a post. I only had my cell, but got a few okay shots. It is on my site as Wordless Wednesday. Your hummingbird shot is really cool! It’s hard to get a clear photo of those fast movers. Here’s my addition to the fun. https://lindylecoq.com/2025/12/04/lens-artists-challenge-376-wings/

Great photos. I like the crane and egrets the most, and I think it’s due to the sense of action in them, and the drama that comes with it.
