Anne has challenged us to create images using a zooming technique. She tells us “Zooming is part of the Intentional Camera Movement family, but instead of moving the camera, you are just moving the lens back and forth.”
I had never heard of this before reading Anne’s post so I spent a lot of time experimenting with different subjects. I had a lot of fun even though I ended up deleting more photos than I kept.
The featured image is of an oleander bush in my back yard. It was one of my final attempts at zooming.
I started out taking night photos of the lights on my neighbors docks. I didn’t use a tripod and I tried many different settings on the camera. Most were epic fails but I liked the way this next photo turned out.

My next images were taken during the day looking up at trees in the woods of rural Georgia.

Last week Tina challenged us to add captions to our photos that would make us smile. Thanks to everyone who rose to the challenge and not only made me smile but sometimes made me laugh out loud!
Ritva will be leading next weeks challenge so be sure to look for her post on Saturday.
Many thanks to Anne for introducing me to Zooming with this fun challenge Lens-Artists #350 – Zooming

LOL! I can relate! Very few of any ICM’s I try turn out to my liking. You did well! I like all yours.

Good for you Beth! Your images are terrific, especially considering it was your first attempt. I find ICM with zoom always results in more throw-aways than keepers and I’ve never attempted night ICMs so special kudos on that one. Loved the opener especially.

Tina, there was a lot of trial and error with the settings but I really had fun with this. I’m glad you liked the ones I posted.

Great experiments, Beth. The nighttime shot is very nice and reminds me of a landing strip for airplanes.

The fun bit is never knowing if they really worked (at least for me), and yours did, Beth. You did extremely well for first try and I hope you continue as your photos are so cool.

Sofia, many thanks! Yes, it was fun to try different settings and not knowing if they turned out until later. I’m glad you liked my results! There were a LOT that didn’t turn out LOL!

Philo, so glad you enjoyed my zooming images. The oleander was one of the last ones I tried.

What a fun challenge! The Oleander shot is beautiful, and it looks like you covered the lens with cellophane. My favorite is looking up at the tree.

Suzanne, It was fun experimenting and fun seeing the results. No cellophane was involved in the Oleander shot LOL. The one looking up at the tree reminded me of a tie dye shirt.

Great zooming images Beth. Even though you had a learning curve, I’m glad you enjoyed it. I especially liked the oleander and nighttime images. I’ve learned, through this challenge, that I need to zoom more in the daytime. I always learn from the LAPC community.
