In 2013, we were traveling in Alaska from Tok to North Pole when we stopped beside this pond covered with Yellow Pond Lilies.

On another trip, we wandered around in the gardens at the Biltmore Estate in North Carolina.

Sharing with Terri’s Flower Hour #28: Flowers in the Water
Every Day is a Gift

Stunning shots of flowers around and on the water, Beth! I may never see lily pads in my current world. The fact that some live on Alaska gives me hope! I had to chuckle when I saw your post, because I wanted to be sure to meet your L-A challenge this week… did you link to your own challenge? 😉

Beautiful place. I’ve never seen yellow lotus before.
Since you said travelling in Alaska, I guess when you say North Pole it is the name of a settlement.

Thank you so much. I should have explained that North Pole is the name of a small town in Alaska not far from Fairbanks.

Simply beautiful! The lilies reminded me of Lily Pad Lake in Colorado.

Thanks Egidio! I had never seen pond lilies before. They must only grow in cold climates. The yellow flowers all over the pond were so beautiful.

Thanks Jet! Yes, it was a magical site. When we spotted the pond covered with those beautiful yellow flowers we pulled over to take a look. I had never seen pond lilies before.

Having lived in Alaska for three years, Beth, I saw several gorgeous ponds like that. All that’s missing is the beavers that may have made the pond! Not likely at the Biltmore estates. Grin.

Curt, this was actually Birch Lake between Tok and North Pole. Yes, definitely no beavers at the Biltmore Estate.

I drove the road a few times when I lived in Alaska, Beth. It felt like I was in the middle of nowhere. Did you drive down the Alaska Highway. I drove over that six times counting coming and going. It was always an adventure! I looked up Birch Lake. It was a little big to be the work of beavers!

Thanks Curt! We drove the entire length of the Alaska Highway although we made several side trips along the way.
