Lens Artists Photo Challenge #364 – Quiet Moment

For this challenge Ritva asks us “Where is your serene sanctuary?” She challenges us to explore and connect with our own personal feelings.

After recent arthroscopic knee surgery I haven’t been able to go out to take many photos. Instead, I’ve had plenty of quiet moments in my own backyard. Watching the full moon rise from our back deck is a peaceful way to end the day. The featured image is of the August full moon.

I find peace sitting on our deck looking for hummingbirds at the feeder and butterflies in the garden. The hummingbirds will stay at the feeder for a while if I am very still and quiet.

Gulf Fritillary butterflies are frequent visitors to my garden this time of year. I love to watch them fly from flower to flower. Taking photos of them requires quiet and patience.

Last week Anne took us on a virtual scavenger hunt and the responses were very creative and fun. Be sure to check back on Saturday, September 13 at noon Eastern Time when Egidio will be hosting our next challenge.

Thanks Ritva for this beautiful challenge. I hope you will join in for this week’s challenge. Be sure to tag your post with Lens-Artists and include a link back to Ritva’s Lens-Artists #364 – Quiet Moment

Sunday Stills – Things under Construction

Terri’s challenge is to explore things Under Construction.

It seems like wherever we travel we get held up by road construction along the way. During our RV travels around Alaska several years ago we were often held up by a construction crew. The featured image is of a crew working on the Dalton Highway north of Fairbanks.

One year we visited Rocky Mountain National Park in late May. We were hoping to drive on the Trail Ridge Road but it was closed for snow removal at Rainbow Curve.

A few years ago there was a beach re-nourishment project on Tybee Island, Georgia. We went out one day to watch these big bulldozers moving the sand.

Many thanks to Terri for her Sunday Stills challenge Under Construction

Lens Artists Photo Challenge #363 – Virtual Scavenger Hunt

Anne is taking us on a virtual scavenger hunt for this challenge. She asks us to “Do a deep dive into your archives, going back as far as you want to find the items.” We had 20 items to choose from and can post at least 5 photos but no more than 10. She wants us to be creative and bold but most of all, she wants us to have fun!

I had fun going through my archives. My featured image is of a grist mill water WHEEL

Thank you to everyone who responded to my challenge last week of Sports, Sporting Events and Games. You showed us amazing images of paragliding, break dancing, fishing, golf, ice dancing, surfing, cycling, motor sports, fun backyard games, baseball, soccer, cricket, hockey, and many more from around the world. I enjoyed the many different ways you interpreted the theme. Be sure to check back on Saturday, September 6 Eastern Time when Ritva will be hosting our next challenge.

Thanks Anne for this FUN challenge! I hope you will join in for this week’s challenge. Be sure to tag your post with Lens-Artists and include a link back to Anne’s Lens-Artists #363 – Virtual Scavenger Hunt

Sunday Stills – Trees in Coastal Georgia

Terri’s theme for this challenge is Trees. She asks us to share any kind of trees and be creative with the simple prompt. I am going to focus on three types of trees we see all around us in Coastal and South Georgia.

My featured image is a mixture of Live Oak trees and palm trees in our neighborhood. The first image in the below gallery is a Maritime Forest on Jekyll Island. The other two are Live Oak trees draped with Spanish Moss.

Cabbage Palms, also known as a Sabal Palmetto, is the only palm tree native to Georgia.

The final gallery shows Cypress trees in the Okefenokee Swamp in south Georgia.

Many thanks to Terri for her Sunday Stills challenge All the trees in the field
