Tailgating on a Golf Course

We stayed in Little Rock to attend the football game  between the Georgia Bulldogs and the Arkansas Razorbacks at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock, Arkansas. On the recommendation of some nice Arkansas fans we met at the campground, we decided to try parking at the golf course to tailgate before the game.

War Memorial Golf Course is an 18 hole, par 65 course located right next to the stadium. When Arkansas plays football in the stadium, it becomes a huge parking area.

Kickoff was at 3:00 pm so we arrived about 10:00 to get in the line of cars entering the golf course. We were directed to the far side of the course next to the fifth hole. Cars and tents covered most of the course. The smell of hamburgers and hot dogs cooking on grills filled the air. By the time kickoff arrived there was hardly any empty space.

Arkansas fans greatly outnumbered the Georgia fans outside and inside the stadium. It was a great game and Georgia won 45-32.

  1. You would think they wouldn’t want all those cars and tents on a golf course. Even if you were in the minority, you still had the right color. All you can see is red.

    1. They told us they repaired the course after the game. It’s hard to tell but most of that red was Arkansas! Their red is a little different from the Georgia red but you can’t tell looking at the pictures. We were in the Georgia section.
