Tina has asked us to explore places and things that have seen better days.
In the image above, we discovered this abandoned boat on the beach in Washington State. Did it wash ashore after it sank or did someone just abandon it there?
In the next photo we know what happened to the red sailboat. A strong hurricane washed it into the marsh in coastal Georgia. We don’t know where it came from but someone eventually was able to tow it away.

Alaska and Colorado still have some buildings and rusty equipment that are leftover from the gold mining days.

The Honeymoon Cottage in Cedar Key, Florida was once a destination cottage that stood on stilts over the water. Over the years, storms took their toll on the building until now the only thing left is a place for the birds to perch.

Many thanks to Tina for challenging us with Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #168: Seen Better Days
Yup! S.B.D.!!! Excellent.

Thanks John! My archives are filled with old things that have seen better days. It wasn’t easy choosing which ones to include.

Oh Beth, some really sad places on this one, especially the last! Great examples for the challenge. I loved the mining camp especially!

Tina, Thank you and thanks for this challenge. I loved the challenge but had a hard time narrowing my choices down to just a few images.

These all meet the challenge and then some, but I love the last one. Honeymoon Cottage may be gone but not forgotten because it looks like a sculpture now. 🙂

Judy, the first time we saw the honeymoon cottage many years ago the cottage was still there. It was in bad condition but you knew it was a cottage.

Great collection of photos. And interesting. One can only wonder about the history of the old boat at the top. If only it could talk… –Curt

Curt, thank you. My husband and I were just talking about it yesterday. Maybe a lifeboat??

Certainly possible. Or possibly a close-to-shore fishing boat that has wandered afar… 🙂

I hope the marriage lasted longer than the cottage! I wonder if the owner of the sailboat reconnected.

Marlene, I’ve wondered what happened to that sailboat.

Wonderful collection, Beth. I love your first image. The name Shanghai painted on it tells a great story/mystery. The honeymoon cottage also caught my eye. Wonderful details and images. Enjoy the weekend, too.

Thanks Patti! My husband and I were just talking about the name Shanghai on that boat. I guess we’ll never know…

Excellent photos for last week’s challenge. We, too, love old boats and look for them especially in local harbors and fishing places. Your first image is a favorite!!

Thank you! So glad you enjoyed the photos. I love being around water and looking at both the old and new boats. The old ones are interesting to see but it makes me sad to see the ones that have blown ashore from a storm.

Your last photo reminds me of Stiltsville in Biscayne Bay and its colorful history.

Thank Karen. I’ve never seen Stiltsville. It sounds like it would be an interesting thing to see.
