Terri’s Sunday Stills challenge is On the Wing. I enjoy bird photography and have thousands of bird photos in my archives. I browsed through some of them and included a few favorites for this challenge.

I am the daughter of a United States Air Force pilot and I can’t do a post about wings without including wings of the USAF Thunderbirds.

Thanks to Terri for her Sunday Stills monthly challenge – On the Wing

Great photos, Beth. Love the image of the juvenile whooping crane with its wings spread. Hmm, wonder where that photo was taken? Ding, ding … I know! 🤣

Thank you! These are a few of my favorite birds. It’s always a treat to see a Spoonbill.

I’ll be in the Tampa area and a little further northwest of there in mid-September do you have any places you like to bird or know of any in that area that would be good in mid-September? I reached out to the Tampa Audubon via and email about it but, haven’t heard back from them. I hope I do!

Two places that come to mind are Cedar Key, Florida and Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park. I’ve never been there in September so I don’t know if you would see any. Cedar Key has lots of other wading birds -white pelicans, brown pelicans, egrets and herons. Homosassa rehabs injured birds and animals. Tampa has several nice parks in the area. Hopefully the Audubon Society will get back with you. Good luck!

Thank you so much! I’ll look at the list the Tampa Audubon has on their website to see if they’re on their list as well. I just hope they get back to me with good parks to visit in mid September.

I’ve never been to that part of Florida in September so I’m not sure what birds will be around then. I hope they can help you.

Love these pictures, especially the Roseate Spoonbill. I hope to get some pictures of these birds next winter when we return to Big Cypress.

Judy, you know how much I like bird photography. I’m glad you liked the hummingbird. That one is from my archives. I haven’t been able to capture one this year. I see them every day but they don’t stay around long enough for a picture. The Thunderbirds remind me of the air shows I went to when I was growing up. Henry and I saw them a few years ago.
