I am happy to welcome Patti back as this week’s host. For this challenge she is asking us to explore the mysterious. Her wonderful post contains great examples and tips to help inspire us.
I chose to include black and white images because I like the way they create a more mysterious feeling.
Cypress swamps are mysterious places. The featured image was taken from the Swamp Trail in Silver Springs State Park, Florida. The next image is from a different swamp, the Okefenokee Swamp in south Georgia.
I find mystery in old abandoned buildings and other old structures.
Last week your responses to John’s On the Move challenge took us around the world on many interesting types of transportation.
Many thanks to Patti for her challenge Lens-Artists #375 – Finding the Mysterious. I hope you will join us for this week’s challenge. Be sure to tag your post with Lens-Artists and link back to Patti’s post.
Be sure to check back on Saturday, November 29 at noon eastern time when I will be your host for the next challenge.

Every Day is a Gift

n monochrome, the mystery deepens and the drama sharpens—cypress swamps become their own haunting tale but that abandoned chimney tells its own story.

Thanks John! I’ve seen that old chimney many times and every time I wonder who the people were who lived there.

Swamps, I would think are very mysterious, something that I would not have thought of as they are not in that scale here

Thanks Ritva! You are so right about the swamps being very mysterious. The swamps are wild places often far away from civilization.

All well chosen for the week Beth. The opener gave me a bit of a chill as did the old dairy barn. And yes, the B&W definitely boosts the level of mystery!!

Thanks Sofia! I’m glad you like the old barn. It was kind of boring in color. I was happy the way it looks in black and white.

All of these are great and you’re right that black and white adds to the sense of mystery. We once visited a small cypress swamp in Florida but I’d love to see Okefenokee one day!

Thanks Sarah! The Okefenokee is a wild and special place. The best way to see it is to take a boat trip into the swamp. I hope you get to see it one day.

Interesting choice to go with B & W images Beth. I love the swamp one and can remember how foreign and interesting those swamps were on my visit as a child.

Beautiful Beth, lots of mystery here. The chimney is interesting, usually when we see them like that here it means there has been a fire at some stage.

Thanks Leanne! I’ve seen that chimney many times but I’ve never found out the history of it.
