Lens Artists Photo Challenge #289 – Tools of Photo Composition

For this challenge JohnBo has asked us to show examples of how we use these tools of photo composition: Shape, Form, Texture and Light.

In my opening photo above I like the shapes of triangles for the roof and rectangles for the windows and shutters in this colorful building at the Carabelle Batik Studio in St. Kitts.

The image below focuses on the natural forms and texture of the hoodoos in Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah.

One of my favorite times to use light is at sunset. Watching the sunset as our cruise ship was sailing out of San Juan, Puerto Rico was a perfect ending to the day.

Many thanks to our host John for the challenge Lens-Artists #289 – Tools of Photo Composition

Lens Artists Photo Challenge #288 – Window Shopping

Ritva is one of our newest Lens Artists hosts. Her first challenge is Window Shopping.

I’m not much of a shopper but I’m great at window shopping. In fact, I am so busy looking at the merchandise I don’t usually think about taking photos. I managed to find three shopping images from our recent West Indies cruise.

The header photo was taken at the Carabelle Batik Factory in St. Kitts. The colorful Batik fabrics drying in the sun were just a sample of the beautiful items we found in the store. Too bad I didn’t have enough time to choose something to bring home.

Visitors can find hats, jewelry, bags, clothing, and many types of souvenirs at the market in St. Martin.

We did a little shopping and enjoyed lunch at Millie’s at the Barbados cruise ship dock.

Many thanks to our host Ritva for the challenge Lens-Artists #288 – Window Shopping

Lens Artists Photo Challenge #285 – Warm Colors

Egidio’s challenge is to feature warm colors. Warm colors include red, orange and yellow and can also include related hues of those colors.

I chose images of flowers in warm colors to wish you a happy Valentine’s Day.

Many thanks to our host Egidio for the challenge Lens-Artists #285 – Warm colors

Wandering Dawgs will be taking a short blogging break while we go wandering..

Lens Artists Photo Challenge #284 – Day and Night

For Sofia’s challenge of Day and Night I chose an image of the full moon rising for my header. The following images from my archives are photos showing the same subject at day and at night.

The Pitons of St. Lucia at day and at night.

View of Mount Redoubt from Ninilchik, Alaska at day and at sunset.

Lens Artists Photo Challenge #281 – Favorite Images 2023

In 2023 we took a few short road trips, I flew to New Mexico, and we went on a fantastic cruise. When we weren’t wandering we enjoyed being at home in Coastal Georgia. Here are a few of my favorite images from the year.

In June we stopped at the Okefenokee Swamp in Georgia on our way to Orlando.

I traveled to Albuquerque, New Mexico in October to attend the Albuquerque Internal Balloon Fiesta for the first time. Each day began with a morning glow followed by lots of activity as the balloon crews prepared the balloons for launch.

Our final trip of the year was a cruise to the Panama Canal and Central America. Passing through the Gatun Locks was the highlight of the cruise. There were great adventures as we traveled into Central American rain forests and saw wildlife we’ve never seen anywhere else.
