Lens Artists Photo Challenge #273 – Symmetry

Sofia has challenged us to feature images that show symmetry. She tells us that symmetry in photography “creates strong and balanced images” and that “our eyes find symmetry harmonious and pleasing.”

My first two images are examples of radial symmetry I found in hot air balloons as they were being inflated at the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta.

The next images are examples of symmetry in architecture.

My last image is symmetry found in nature in my first Camellia bloom of the season.

Many thanks to our host Sophia for the challenge Lens-Artists Challenge #273 – Symmetry

Lens Artists Photo Challenge #272 – Signs and Billboards

Our challenge from John is Signs and Billboards. I can’t do a post about signs without including images of the Georgia Football Barn Sign located in Tennille, Georgia on Georgia Highway 15. There is more about the barn in my 2018 post UGA Barn Sign. The header image is the latest message on the barn. In honor of today’s annual meeting of the Georgia Bulldogs and Florida Gators in Jacksonville, Florida I had to include this next image from November, 2019.

Go Dawgs!

This first gallery is of a few wildlife warning signs.

This final gallery is just for fun.

Lens Artists Photo Challenge #271 – Contrasts

Amy’s challenge is to show contrasts in our images.

My header photo shows the contrast of the red Magnolia seeds against the brown of the cone and the green of the leaves.

The next image shows the contrast between the brown desert grass and the colorful balloons in the blue sky.

I like the contrast of the orange beak of the puffin against the blue background of the ocean in this next image.

The following beach scene at sunrise contrasts the orange sky with the dark beach and the silhouettes of people watching the sunrise.

My final image contrasts the silhouette of the hot air balloon as it rises into the air at sunrise.

Lens Artists Photo Challenge #270 – On Display

For this challenge I chose some military aircraft images in honor of my father who was a United States Air Force pilot. Dad flew a B-24 Liberator during World War II. The header image is of a B-24 on display in Savannah, Georgia. Later in his career he also flew a B-17 and a B-47 like the ones on display at the Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum in Pooler, Georgia. He also few a B-52 during his career.

The following slideshow features U. S. Air Force and U.S. Navy military aircraft on display at air shows and at the U. S. Naval Aircraft Museum in Pensacola, Florida.

Lens Artists Photo Challenge #269 – On the Edge

Our host Patti has asked us to show images of people, places or things on “the edge”. The header image is of the West Quaddy Lighthouse in Lubec, Maine. The lighthouse is located on the easternmost point in the United States so it is on the edge of America.

Next are two more lighthouses. Each is located high above the water on the edge of a cliff.

Bass Harbor Head Light, Bass Harbor, Maine
Split Rock Lighthouse on Lake Superior, Minnesota

Although I’m afraid of heights, my husband Henry isn’t. He loves to get close to the edge of a cliff while I stand back, far away from the edge.

Henry on the Edge

I’ll end with a few images of animals on ledges.

Iguana on the edge of a wall, San Juan, Puerto Rico
Alligators near the edge of the walking and bike path, Everglades National Park, Florida
Pair of doves on the edge of a railing, Georgia
Bluebird on the edge of our truck mirror
