Bird Weekly Challenge – Birds that begin with the Letter E

I can think of many birds that begin with the letter E but for this challenge I will feature two kinds of Egrets – Great Egrets and Snowy Egrets.

We visited St. Augustine Alligator Farm in February one year in hopes of seeing the Great Egrets in their beautiful breeding plumage. They put on quite a show.

Snowy Egrets are smaller than the Great Egrets and have yellow feet.

Thank you Lisa for this week’s Bird Weekly Challenge Birds that begin with the Letter E

  1. Fabulous photos! The Alligator Farm offers great opportunity. I wanted to go back this year, but I’m not taking the chance with crowds. We drive by there occasionally and the parking lot is full. NO THANK YOU!!! I’ll wait and stick to the Wildlife Refuges for now. 🙂

      1. No they don’t. They are consumed with building and keeping their nest, nurturing their eggs or feeding their young. They have become used to people but know they are safe from humans. 🙂

  2. Beth: This is Gail Farley, Program Chair of St Marys Garden Club (Georgia). I follow your travels and blog as a would-be traveler. Your blog postings and photos are so beautiful and inspiring! You mentioned recently there’s a nursery in St Simons area that specializes in Camellias. Our garden club is VERY interested in a program on camellias and purchasing some camellias. Would you please consider sharing with me the nursery’s name? I’m sure to let them know who recommended them! Please and thank you?!? Gail Farley

    1. Gail, thank you so much for your kind words. I’m so glad you enjoy reading my blog posts. The Nursery is Gene’s Nursery in Savannah. Their website is https://genesnursery.com/. I don’t know if they do programs but I would certainly give them a call and ask. They have a large selection of Camellias for sale and are very knowledgeable about the Camellias. Please send me an email at beth@wanderingdawgs.com if you have any more questions. Good luck! PS – I used to be in a Garden Club here in the Savannah Area.
