Lens Artists Photo Challenge #253 – Fragments

For this challenge our guest host Brian of Bushboys World asks us to show our interpretation of fragments.

I chose a few fragments of ancient dwellings. As I gazed at the remains of these buildings I tried to imagine what the lives were like for the inhabitants who lived in them. The first photo above shows ancient cliff dwellings in Mesa Verde National Park, Colorado. The following images are from Colorado, Ireland, and Scotland.

Fragments of ancient Pueblo dwellings, Hovenweep National Monument, Colorado and Utah
Ancient Bee Hive Huts from about 2000 BC on Dingle Peninsula, Ireland, on the Wild Atlantic Way
Urquhart Castle on the banks of Loch Ness, Scotland

Many thanks to Brian of Bushboys World for the challenge Lens-Artists Challenge #253 – Fragments

  1. Terrific choice for the challenge Beth. I always find myself thinking about how miserable life must have been in these huge, cold castles during the worst weather. we think of the glories of being a resident, and I suppose it was indeed better than most, but not something I’d aspire to! Wonderful images this week!

    1. Tina, thanks! When we were at Mesa Verde looking at the cliff dwellings I thought what as hard life it had to be to climb up the cliffs and sometimes up ladders just to get to their home.

  2. Fascinating, Beth, I love old ruins and fragments of the past. But yes…living there once must have been difficult. I guess they had fires and servants, but still.
