Terri’s latest Sunday Stills challenge focuses on water safety. Her challenge is to show fun things in and around the water.
I love being in, on, or close to water. I’m a former lifeguard and scuba diver. I love boating, kayaking, canoeing, swimming, or just floating in the water. My favorite form of exercise is water aerobics. I strongly believe in educating people about water safety.
My first two images involve swimming. The featured image is swimmers at the start of the swim portion of a triathlon. The next image is a swimmer at a swim meet.

These next two images are lifeguards keeping beach goers safe. On the left are lifeguards on a beach in Georgia. On the right are lifeguards in Kauai, Hawaii. Many thanks go out to all the lifeguards everywhere.

The next two images feature kite surfers. This is a water sport I never attempted. It’s a lot of fun to watch them, though.

The next two images are kayakers in Hawaii on the left and Florida on the right.

I can’t have a post about swimming without featuring a photo of our beloved dog Blondie. Oh how she loved to swim! I still miss her.

We are kindred spirits, Beth! Good for you to have that background in water safety. Excellent photos of the various activities on the water. I never kite surfed. It’s supposed to be an easier learning curve but you need a lot of beach for launching the kite with its long lines. I’m glad someone else takes beach lifeguard pics!

Terry, Great topic for your challenge. Thank you so much for writing about the importance of water safety. I’m glad you liked my images. I stumbled across the Georgia life guards when I was looking at my kite surfing pictures. I found the Hawaii lifeguard pictures when I was looking through my Hawaii beach pictures.

My father had a cocker spaniel that had two loves in his life (in addition to my father): one was chasing tennis balls, the other was swimming. He was smart. My dad would tell him to stay out of the water, if they were heading for the car to avoid the wet dog mess. He’d get around the rule by pushing his ball into the water. And of course he had to retrieve it!

Curt, what a wonderful memory. Blondie had the same to loves. I don’t know if you could tell in the picture but Blondie had a tennis ball in her mouth.

When I visited my dad, Smokey would be there before I could sit down, dropping his ball and waiting in anticipation. I missed the ball with Blondie, but I suspect that she had the same routine.
