We had the rare pleasure of seeing a painted bunting on a lazy stream in southern Minnesota. It was perched on the most fragile stem of long grass arching over the water. No camera with us, alas, but it’s forever in my memory. Thank you for your lovely photo.

I forgot to mention that we were canoeing, so we were up fairly close to the bird.

Nice catch. We really just have run of the mill birds, but what we do have this year is lots of them. I’ve never seen so many robins in all my life.

Thanks Judy. There are a few other birds that come through our yard but we don’t have robins. I don’t know why that is. But as you can see, the buntings are my favorite.

So pretty. I’m always amazed that birds like this are able to survive in the wild. They’re like Liberace trying to blend in in a war zone. Makes no sense. (I am obviously not a naturalist, if you can’t tell 😂)

Such beautiful birds, and a great picture! Painted Buntings are one of the things I miss most about Georgia.
