Lens Artists Photo Challenge #372 – Ephemeral

Ephemeral Magnolia blossom

Tina’s challenge is Epemeral. She tells us “the dictionary’s short and simple definition of the word ephemeral – “lasting for a very short time“.

There are so many things to be appreciated that only last a short time. I learned a long time ago that life is short and it is important to stop and enjoy the moment before it’s gone.

I decided to focus on flowers and critters in my garden from this year. Some things come and go so fast I miss them if I don’t pay attention. My header image is of a magnolia blossom on a tree right next to my driveway. I can see the tree from my kitchen window. I anxiously await the first bloom every spring. Each bloom only lasts a day or two before it fades away. I grabbed my camera as soon as I saw this bloom in early May.

The rest of the images are of other special moments from the garden this year.

Backyard Bees, Butterflies and Birds

We’ve had lots of activity in our backyard these first two weeks of July. Bees and Butterflies are frequent visitors to the butterfly garden.

Ruby Throated Hummingbirds and Northern Cardinals are two of the birds we see every summer around our back yard. Snow Egrets are frequent summer visitors to the salt water creek. Roseate Spoonbills first started coming to our area a few years ago. I’ve seen them two years in a row now so hopefully they will keep returning each summer.

First Day of Spring 2020

These days we are social distancing by staying home except to go to the store for supplies.

I grabbed my camera today to go outside in my yard in the glorious warm, sunny weather and capture a few of our first spring blooms. Enjoy!
