Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #173 – Interesting Architecture

Tina’s challenge this week is to show interesting architecture – whether in our back yard or around the world.

My first three images don’t have anything in common except I like the architectural details of each of them. The image above is from the Art Deco District in South Beach in Miami. These next two are from two National Parks in the United States.

The rest of my images are of interesting houses of worship. The first is from Alaska and the rest are historic houses of worship in Savannah, Georgia.

Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #170 – Street Art

For this challenge Patti has asked us to explore street art near and far.

I found street art in Canada, Ireland, Scotland, and several places in the United States from Juneau, Alaska to Key West, Florida.

Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #169 – The Ordinary

Our challenge from guest host I.J. Khanewala of Don’t Hold your Breath is to show ordinary objects. I chose a few images from my back yard that show ordinary sights around my October garden.

In the image above, the pink plumes of the Muhly Grass is an ordinary sign of fall where I live.

Every October, when most of the flowers in my butterfly garden are gone, the bright orange Mexican Sunflowers are still attracting butterflies. Gulf Fritillaries, Skippers, and Monarch butterflies are ordinary visitors feasting on the last of the nectar.

Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #168 – Seen Better Days

Tina has asked us to explore places and things that have seen better days.

In the image above, we discovered this abandoned boat on the beach in Washington State. Did it wash ashore after it sank or did someone just abandon it there?

In the next photo we know what happened to the red sailboat. A strong hurricane washed it into the marsh in coastal Georgia. We don’t know where it came from but someone eventually was able to tow it away.

Alaska and Colorado still have some buildings and rusty equipment that are leftover from the gold mining days.

The Honeymoon Cottage in Cedar Key, Florida was once a destination cottage that stood on stilts over the water. Over the years, storms took their toll on the building until now the only thing left is a place for the birds to perch.
