Patti challenge is to share celebrations from near and far.

Today I am celebrating my return to blogging after having a total knee replacement two weeks ago! I’m doing well but still have a lot of Physical Therapy in my future.

Fifteen years ago Henry and I celebrated great results from a different kind of health issue. After nine long months of grueling cancer treatments, my doctor told me my cancer was gone! So what did we do to celebrate? Go on a cross country RV Celebration Journey of course!

Surviving cancer made me realize how important it is to live in the moment, enjoy the little things, and celebrate life every day. We met many kind people and at the end of each day we made a toast to the gift of another day.

We toured Vicksburg National Military Park

I fed a Texas Longhorn

We toured Palo Duro Canyon in Texas

We ate steak at the Big Texan in Amarillo

We drove to the top of Sandia Crest with my brother and his wife in Albuquerque

We Wandered around the Garden of the Gods in Colorado

We hiked in the snow in Rocky Mountain National

We wandered around Custer State Park in the Black Hills of South Dakota

We walked across the headwaters of the Mississippi River in Minnesota

I’m still celebrating every day!

  5. Simply splendid, Beth! Defeating cancer is no mean feat and is the very best reason I know of to celebrate. Best line of your post, “I’m still celebrating ever day!” Wonderful attitude and I admire you so very much. Plus, of course, great images as always! I love the shot of you walking across the head waters – that’s on my bucket list. Great post! xx

  10. I’m so glad you were one of those who could kick cancer to the curb and go on with a happy and healthy life with lots of fun adventures. Now, on to PT which probably doesn’t cause you to break a sweat compared to what you’ve been through. Hope the knee feels better every day.

  11. Beating cancer is a wonderful achievement. A knee replacement is supposed to be one of the most painful surgeries and recoveries.

    Sounds like an amazing road trip. May you and your hushand have many more adventures in the future.

  14. Aww, how didn’t I know this about you, Beth? Congratulations first on celebrating being cancer free with a lengthy road trip. Lovely areas you visited.
    I hope you’re healing nicely with the knee replacement. I’m following in your footsteps. I had a basal cell removed from my nose last week. Ugh. I may looking at knee replacement for 2027. Every day really IS a gift!

    1. Thanks Terri. I don’t usually like to mention my cancer. It all happened before I started the blog. When I started looking through my photos of the trip and saw our smiling faces i remembered how much fun we had.

  18. What a lovely bog Beth. you all look like you’re having the best of times. Good luck with your knee recovery. It is a long recovery process but so worth it. I had my knee replaced two years ago and it’s now as good as my original knee ever was 🙂

  26. Know what Beth? WE celebrate your fighting spirit and you rcommitment to getting through a major challenge and enjoying every day. We also celebrate your husband whose love no doubt that a great deal to do with your getting through such a huge challenge for both of you. And finally, we celebrate having you as part of our team!
